The Project

This exciting Flight Centre shop was a double retail store layout with joinery and shop fitting dating back to 1996. The property size and space had potential for redevelopment into a more practical double retail store with improved spatial planning to also include a non-client-facing office for 6 consultants. Flight Centre’s new design standards and shop fitting specifications had to be used to update the store.

Aspen was appointed to execute the refurbishment from a design brief and plans supplied by the Flight Centre fit-out manager. Plans and brand directives provided by Flight Centre allowed for improved spatial planning & operational functions. Aspen was also responsible for the manufacturing and installation of all new joinery as per Flight Centre brand standards.

The Solution

  • Stripping out of all existing joinery and flooring
  • Removing external and internal columns on shop front
  • Chasing floor for data and electrical supply to desks
  • Existing shop front repair and respray
  • Building new stud walls and new partition walls to create new office
  • Taping and jointing and filling all walls for new decorating spec
  • New skirting
  • Decorating all walls and soft wood
  • New joinery (consultant desks, brochure shelving and office cupboards)
  • New world map display unit, installation of wallpaper, installing plasma screens
  • Posting build clean and hand-over

Aspen effectively executed the given design brief, completed the programme within budget and on specified time. The joinery manufactured and supplied was of a high standard. Aspen were proficient in liaison with Flight Centre’s approved subcontractors (data cabling and electrical contractor) and their specific requirements.
